Looking for somewhere to park your tiny house? Or someone to prune the bushes or play with your cat? CLAIRE MARTIN looks at some of the quirky requests found on community noticeboards

SOMEONE to prune the roses, land for tiny houses and six Juniper Berries — you never know what you’ll find on our local community noticeboards.

Gone are the days of just job offers and lost pets, the addition and immediacy of the internet has turned our community advertisements into something far more creative.

Surfing the Geelong region’s online noticeboards, the Geelong Advertiser has found some of the most interesting ways of getting things done.

Looking for a low cost seaside getaway? Don’t sweat it, all you have to do is prune some roses.

On the Surf Coast Community Noticeboard via Facebook, one member posted: “Do you know anyone that may want a holiday down on the Surf Coast in exchange for some rose pruning/gardening?”

“We have a cottage on our farm stay or a beach cottage in Torquay that we would exchange for gardening hours.

“Happy to do a very fair swap for someone who loves gardening or knows a thing or two about pruning roses,” they wrote.

Another interesting social media user was looking for some farm land to rent for her “tiny house”.

“My daughter and I are practised in the art of tiny house living,” she posted.

“We are looking for a small piece of a farm to rent space for our two caravans. Next to a shed would be ideal as I have a small tank to catch watcher, and I would like to be sheltered from the wind.”

Other posts on the Geelong Noticeboard included babysitters for a New Year’s Eve wedding and cat sitters that would “spend time and play with our fur baby rather than just feeding her and bailing”.

One pet lover was even looking for someone to clip his dogs nails while a budding chef posted in search of six “juniper berries” for her “special recipe”.
