SIDE VIEW OF THE HOME GROUND ADVANTAGE

ALL the talk about the home ground advantage, I have a very easy solution.

The MCG is 10 metres shorter and 26 metres wider. Can’t alter the length easily, but shave 13 metres off each side of the MCG, with a line marker, result — home ground advantage restored in front of 90,000-plus spectators. Why has this not been considered? Brian Sherwell, Belmont

FRIDAY GAMES KEEP CATS FANS OUT OF BOUNDS

WHY is Geelong scheduled for a Friday game again? Hello, AFL, I support the Cats and I live in Geelong.

There is no way l will knock off work and rush to Melbourne to see the Cats play. I have had too many bad experiences travelling in both train and car on a Friday.

Saturday night we could go early enjoy a meal and thoroughly barrack for the Cats. Go Cats — play hard. Terry Bohan, Belmont

DISAPPOINTING TWIST IN TIGER SUPPORTERS’ TALE

SOME Tiger supporters weren’t happy with beating the Cats. They showed their true colours by spitting on Cats fans as they left the ground.

I was hoping the Tigers would win if Cats were beaten, now I am cheering for any other team. Pam Saxon, Grovedale

BROKEN PROMISES SHOW DISREGARD FOR GEELONG

AGAIN we see the AFL forget about governance and integrity. Recent “sackings” of executives who have disregarded workplace integrity.

The Essendon saga demonstrated how out of touch they were and the lack of governance and leadership they had within the worldwide drug laws of sport.

Geelong will spend about $200 million to develop and increase the capacity of the ground within Kardinia Park. Apparently it is in vain as while the team is successful, as soon as a big crowd is likely, a rule, a promised condition of being a Geelong member, home game is not happening.

The AFL has a rule about home games in finals, we spent millions to cater for that rule and the AFL demonstrates a lack of integrity, honesty or governance in changing the rules to suit what purpose? A class action to get back our membership fees must be a plan.

Catering for the total population of AFL club members was the story, but filling the financial coffers the underlying target. That failed as clearly from the TV telecast there was a crowd of 95,000 with commentators stating there were 95,000 Richmond supporters. And that is the story in a nutshell. The AFL does not care about the club or the township of Geelong. Ross Kroger, Highton

FINAL DISPLAY QUALIFYING FOR FUTURE AFL REVIEW

I’M writing at 9pm from the MCG during the first half of Geelong v Richmond — I swear I have just watched half a game of NRL. Richmond 25 Geelong 16.

Does either side really want to win this qualifying final? Qualifying for what? Sorry to say but if this is the showcase called AFL football, I would much prefer watching my local league. To the AFL coaches association, please get together and discuss the terrible way our beloved game is going. There’s 95,000 people watching the tripe that’s being staged here tonight. Nothing more needs to be said. Terry Sherwell, Geelong
