THE CLOWNS ARE COMING

- HARRISON TIPPET

CLOWNS are planning to terrorise Geelong on Friday the 13th, in an apparent return of the creepy clown craze that hit Australia last year.

The Clown Australia Facebook page last week posted a warning the group would send clowns to terrorise Geelong tomorrow, according to reports from Channel 7.

The page appeared to have been removed in recent days, but not before a screenshot of the October 4 warning appeared to be captured by the media outlet.

“We’re coming for you, hope ya’ll are prepared . . . Vic you have 8 days to prepare” the post warned. “See you soon!” The page also listed suburbs and cities that would be targeted, including Geelong.

The apparent threat caused a stir with Geelong residents online.

“Heads up — apparently those ‘clowns’ from a few months back, will be annoying Geelong on October 13th and will be ‘everywhere’ on Halloween,” Sue Hewat said on Facebook.

“Just be cautious, as some incidents can be quite scary, dangerous and traumatic.”

Kristi Weil responded: “Oh no, not again. I hope not cause I bloody hate them, they are evil and if I see one I’m gonna run like hell. Bloody stupid idiots.”

Some questioned the threat, suggesting the clowns’ bark was worse than their bite.

“Did anyone ever actually see one last time they were apparently around? I know we’ve all heard people telling stories about how someone else apparently saw one etc but who here can honestly say they saw even 1 last time?” Katie Wait said.

Edna VanPyrite also questioned the veracity of the threat.

“Didn’t see one last year, not buying into the hype this year either,” she said.

Many commenters made threats of their own.

“I will run them over if they try me. Or I did purchase a baseball bat for safety. Their choice,” Tahnee Lee Anderson said.

“Think my 5 iron will love to meet one of them,” Peter Dunn said.

The Clown Australia threat came after a warning from creepy clown Facebook page Clown Purge Australia posted in September.

“Get ready for the 2nd round Australia, we’re coming back for you and last night was only the beginning. We have big plans,” the group posted.
