CEO PROUD OF COUNCIL’S RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS
REGARDING Darryn Lyons’ column Democracy rules: surprise, surprise (GA 11/11) I reluctantly find myself writing regarding the unfair, misinformed and inaccurate comments made about the City of Greater Geelong and its people.
The organisation has been misrepresented, and our hard-working staff have been unfairly portrayed.
The weekend’s commentary tried to negatively influence the organisation’s relationship with the new council, and the opinions expressed do not reflect our organisational purpose and focus.
I am proud of the successes we have achieved over the past 18 months in building a better place to work. Our new councillors are aware they are entering a highly regulated environment, with rules and expectations established by Victorian law.
I remain extremely positive that we have embarked on a new era.
I have every confidence in our staff, the calibre of our councillor-select, and the processes and resources we have put in place to support and help our new council to undertake its duties and be successful. Kelvin Spiller, CEO, City of Greater Geelong
