Music’s power couple arrive in city

A HUGE mural of Jay Z and Beyonce has been painted on a wall in central Geelong to add colour to the area.

Melbourne artist Danielle Weber was commissioned to complete the mural and has had a lot of positive feedback from passers-by.

“Everyone has been really positive and they all seem to like it,” Ms Weber said.

The mural is on the new building at 12-14 Union St, owned by Kosta Drakopoulos, who was named on the Financial Review’s BRW Young Rich list last year.

Beyonce and Jay Z were chosen as the subjects after Ms Weber, who has painted for The Rock and Conor McGregor, did a survey with her followers.

“They are very recognisable and even elderly people walking past have recognised them,” she said.

She said blank walls were less likely to be vandalised with graffiti if artwork was put on them instead. It has taken her a week to complete the mural with it expected to be finished last night.
