Cars the target of caravan park raid

SEVEN caravans were broken into in the Kia Ora caravan park on the Great Ocean Rd, Lorne.

Three sheds were broken into, which have been linked to theft of motor cars.

Car keys were stolen from Norlane and Waurn Ponds, while jewellery and cash were taken from homes in Corio, Geelong, and the Bellarine Peninsula. ALCOHOL, power tools and cash were among items pinched across the week.

Four incidents occurred at night and one during the afternoon. TWO vehicles stolen in the past week were recovered in Corio, while others were found in Benwerrin, Laverton, Little River, Manifold Heights, Norlane, Warragul and Whittingto­n.

Several vehicles remain missing. SEVEN number plates were stolen from cars in Corio. In Lara four cars had number plates stolen.

Torquay had five while Geelong and Thompson had three each and Geelong, Newtown and Ocean Grove two each. OVERALL trend for property damage is up from the previous week.

There were five incidents of graffiti.

Eight vehicles were damaged and 13 had windows smashed and were linked to burglaries or attempted burglaries.

Corio and Norlane remain the highest target areas followed by Lara and Geelong. VICTORIA Police Western Region Division 1 are again running a series of community forums to allow people an opportunit­y to hear about local crime trends, crime prevention tips and to discuss local issues. Forums will be held in Geelong, Corio and Lara, with residents and traders encouraged to attend.
