Worpel gets Hawks call-up

-

GEELONG Falcons’ 2017 premiership captain James Worpel will make his debut for Hawthorn against St Kilda tomorrow night in Tasmania.

The 19-year-old was selected with pick 45 in last year’s national draft and was the third of five premiership Falcons who found AFL homes.

But he’ll be the first to make his debut, beating Matt Ling, Tom McCartin, Gryan Miers and Josh Jaska to the field.

Carlton has been strengthened by the return of key defender Caleb Marchbank and midfielder Matthew Kennedy as they search for their first win of the season tonight against the Western Bulldogs.

But ruckman Matthew Kreuzer will miss at least one more week, even though coach Brendon Bolton insists he is over a groin injury.

The Bulldogs welcome back onballer Lachie Hunter from suspension.

Meanwhile, North Melbourne youngster Luke Davies-Uniacke will replace Shaun Higgins for the match against Port Adelaide.

Toby Greene will miss GWS’ game with Brisbane with a foot injury, while the Lions have rested Luke Hodge and dropped Ryan Bastinac.

Adelaide is bolstered by the return of midfielders Matt Crouch and David Mackay for tomorrow night’s home clash against Gold Coast but Rory Sloane will miss at least one more week.
