Marvel at all the glory
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan.
Brave new worlds without end THE 19th production from the Marvel stable is a gargantuan game-changer, with more than 20 superheroes joining forces for an epic adventure.
What we have here in Avengers: Infinity War is not so much a case of worlds colliding, as it is all about galaxies aligning.
Galaxies is the operative word, as it is a goodhumoured gatecrashing of the Avengers party by the Guardians of the Galaxy gang that is the real, undisputed success story of Infinity War.
All you really need to know is that the villainous Titan despot Thanos (a magnificent motion-captured performance from Josh Brolin) is well on the way to completing his plan for a genocide that will effectively halve the population of all worlds in the universe.
What Thanos requires to seal his deathly deal is a set of Infinity Stones: six orbs that can bend reality, time, life forces and a myriad other entities at will.
Naturally, all that stands in the way is an evolving and amusingly improvised alliance between almost every big name from the Avengers and the Guardians.
Tracking the multiple lines of resistance is one of the unabashed delights of Infinity War.
It will only serve to open up many exciting chapters.
