TEARS, CHEERS FOR $1.4M LOTTO WIN

- PRAGYA SINGH

A PORTARLINGTON woman got the surprise of her life yesterday when she checked her TattsLotto ticket and discovered she’d won $1.4 million.

The woman, who buys a ticket every week, wandered into Colac Lotto yesterday afternoon, unaware her life was about to change.

Staff took her out the back to sit down and call TattsLotto after her ticket revealed a “high win”.

Lottery official Bronnie Spencer was lucky enough to break the good news to the woman over the phone.

“I asked her if she was sitting down, and she said she was,” Ms Spencer told the Addy last night.

“I told her she’d won $1.4 million. There were a few happy tears.”

Ms Spencer said the woman, whose identity has not been revealed, couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“I’m very hot and bothered. Could you write that down?” she told Ms Spencer. “I’ve been playing TattsLotto since it started and the most I’ve ever won is division two about 10 years ago.”

“I don’t need anything so I’m going to share it with my family,” the Portarlington local said.

The woman bought her ticket at Portarlington’s newsagency. The store’s owner, Darryn Sedgmen, said he was elated to have sold his second divisionone winning entry in 10 months.

“It was a great Mother’s Day present and since ours is a small community there is a lot of excitement and discussion,” he said.
