Music to the ears of artists

TALENTED musicians are being invited to showcase their work, with Queensclif­f Music Festival’s Emerging Artist Grant submission­s opening today.

Each year QMF organisers select up-and-coming acts from the Barwon South-West region — from Queensclif­f to Warrnamboo­l and Geelong to Colac — to share in up to $10,000 of funding to go towards their musical career.

Grant recipients are also given an opportunit­y to showcase their music with a slot on the festival line-up.

Ocean Grove’s Andrea Robertson and Apollo Bay teenage rockers the Refuge shared the 2017 grant.

The QMF Emerging Artist Grant has handed out $70,000 over the past eight years to musicians such as the Murlocs, Yirrmal, Aine Tyrrell, Hollie Joyce, Sweetheart­s and Rough River.

Applicants must detail a specific project they wish to fund through the project. Submission­s close on June 30.

The 2018 QMF will be held from November 23-25, with early bird tickets on sale now. it still looks nice.” She said the story was a source of pride for the family, which was working on a family album about the history.

“There are other members of the family that have chosen the Naomi name, but this is a line of mother to firstborn daughter, which is pretty special,” she said.

“We didn’t know Elyce was having a girl last year, so when she arrived I was overjoyed.

“I tried not to put pressure on her with names.

“I wanted it to be her decision to carry it on or not and when she told me it was Mia Naomi, I was thrilled.”
