Police plea for footage of crash car

-

POLICE are seeking dashcamera footage they believe will help their investigation into a crash at Belmont.

Geelong Highway Patrol is investigating a collision on the corner of Roslyn Rd and High St about 5.55pm on Wednesday.

Officers have been told the driver of a white Mazda 3 was seen driving erratically in Wandana Heights on Scenic and Roslyn roads before the collision.

The driver then collided with a vehicle and light post at the intersection of Roslyn Rd and High St.

Geelong Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Shane Dignan said about 15 witnesses had come forward with information but dashcamera footage was still being sought.

“We had various reports of this car travelling on the wrong side of the road and driving over roundabouts,” SenConstable Dignan said.

“Fortunately it ended up not as bad as it could have been — 4.30pm or 5pm on any night in Geelong on your more major roads, like Roslyn, Barrabool, Scenic, is busy and it could have ended in tears.”

The driver of the second vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The 23-year-old male driver of the Mazda 3 was taken to hospital for observation. He provided a blood sample and was released to be interviewed by police at a later date.

No charges have yet been laid. Anyone with dash camera footage is urged to contact Geelong Highway Patrol on 5247 3577.
