Cocky leads comeback Cats at Frankston

- NICK WADE

GEELONG is confident Nakia Cockatoo has overcome a bout of tonsillitis and will make his footy comeback in the VFL at Frankston on Sunday.

Cockatoo, who has not played since injuring his knee in Round 3, was due to play in the VFL last week before being a late withdrawal.

“‘Cocky’ was set to play last week and got some tonsillitis, so bad timing, not the luckiest player on our list, but he’ll be playing this weekend,” Geelong physio Mark Young said on Cats TV.

Cory Gregson will also take on Frankston this weekend after failing to play last weekend with foot soreness picked up from the club’s Gold Coast training camp.

Given his history of longterm issues in that area, the Cats opted to “play it safe” and the issue has since subsided as a result.

Forward Stewart Crameri will also return after missing a month with an eye injury that required laser eye surgery to fix.

“He’s training comfortably with the boys . . . the specialist is happy, he’ll play this weekend,” Young said.

George Horlin-Smith will be given every chance to play after missing last week’s win over Werribee with a minor calf strain.

“He’s feeling much better . . . he will train later in the week and we expect him to play,” Young said.

Lincoln McCarthy ( hamstring) has completed a solid block of running training and is in the frame to return next weekend, provided he gets through main training.
