Coach ready to change winning formula

- DAMIEN RACTLIFFE

TORQUAY playing- coach Courtney Cuolahan says the side that defeated Ocean Grove in Sunday’s elimination final will not necessarily be the same team that faces Barwon Heads this weekend.

The Tigers proved too strong for the Grubbers at Le- opold to progress to week two of finals, with Bridget Aughton returning from injury to play an eye-catching game.

But with a full list to pick from, Cuolahan said plenty of thought would go into selecting the right mix for Sunday’s first semi-final.

“We had a full team (last Sunday) but it will definitely be about match-ups and what happens on the day and how people train,” she said.

“We’re realistic; we come up against a really hard team in Barwon Heads that have been close and then pipped us by a lot last time.

“They were without a couple of key players last time and we had a couple away as well, so it will be interesting to see. I know it will be finals netball and really close.

“From all reports, I had some underground moles, spies (watching Barwon Heads against Geelong Amateur) and they said they played well and were unlucky to lose.”

But Cuolahan said her side would take some confidence from winning five of its past six.

“As a whole, we had something to prove (on Sunday) and we know we can play really good netball and we put it out,” she said.

“It was definitely pleasing that we put out some goals and achieved them. We’ve still got heaps to work on, but it’s really positive.”
