GFL GRAND FINAL

Capra to weigh up future

- ALEX OATES THE VETERAN

stunning victory, Brant was almost in a state of shock.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling. It’s hard to describe, really,” Brant said.

“I’ve played every game and it’s a long, tough season but it’s all worth it in the end when you can walk away with a medal around your neck.”

Peter could barely hide his emotion after a nerve-racking 120 minutes of footy.

“Naturally I’m very proud for him,” said Peter, who was on hand to witness his son win the senior best-and-fairest yes- terday.

“That’s his second premiership and he was a bit stiff to miss out in 2015 when he broke his collarbone, so he could’ve quite easily had three.

“Sure I’m very proud of my son, his achievements have been fantastic, but all the boys are like one, big happy family.” BEN Capra will weigh up whether to play on next season after securing a third premiership in four years.

Playing a crucial role as a swingman in St Joseph’s ninepoint triumph over St Mary’s, Capra said he was no guarantee to play on.

“I’ve got to sit down and consider all options now,” he said. “I’ve got the house in Melbourne that I’ve bought and that’s going to take up a bit of time. I said in the article when I had my 200th, I just keep getting drawn back to this fantastic club, these fantastic boys.

“I’ll have to sit down now and consider all options.”

Capra interchanged in the ruck with Josh Hovey, moved forward to provide a target and rushed back to help in defence against Sam Dobson (five goals) and Aiden Grace.

“Forward, back, bench — I don’t know what I’m doing,” Capra said.

“If I can contribute a bit of body and voice to wherever I am, I think it goes a long way for the team.”

With their backs against the wall, Joeys were again triumphant.

Leading early and later facing defeat, St Joseph’s showed a steely resolve.

“You just saw the perfect example of absolute ticker (and) belief in each other,” Capra said.

“Every football side, every sports side, claims they play for each other and they love each other.

“I think you saw testament to that.

“We trust each other immensely — you can see that from the backline all the way to the forwards.

“And an absolute belief in each other no matter what, no matter how much we’re down.

“It’s been a real challenging year, but this is just the cream on the cake.”
