REMEMBER the days when you were able to sleep in on Sunday morning? Well, spare a thought for residents in the vicinity of St Matthew’s Church in East Geelong, who are woken every Sunday at 8am to the monotonous, repetitive, mindbogglingly awful thump, thump, thump of drum banging coming from within. Too bad if you have a migraine, been up all night with a sick kid or only get to sleep in on the weekends. Apparently, the quality of the drum banging is also, well … let’s just say we’re not talking Led Zeppelin here, As if that isn’t enough, residents cop another dose Monday nights when practice sessions bang on until 9 o’clock. The natives are understandably not happy and all agree there is nothing God-like about this unholy racket.
