REVIVAL REVS UP IN STYLE

- TAMARA McDONALD

THOUSANDS of car lovers are set to flock to Geelong’s waterfront this weekend for the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival, where vehicles old and new will take centre stage.

The event, which is the nation’s biggest classic motoring festival, began last night, and is expected to attract 60,000 visitors during the weekend. There will be more than 1000 cars and bikes on display and 300 vehicles will be racing.

Geelong Revival Motoring Festival celebrates quartermile sprints that have been running along Richie Blvd since 1956.

Classic cars opened the weekend by cruising into the city’s waterfront from Sutcliffe Reserve last night.

Today will feature more high performance and contemporary vehicles, while tomorrow vintage and classic cars will hit the track.

“It’s going to be a big one for Geelong . . . it’s great to see Geelong’s waterfront coming alive,” event director Nicholas Heath said.

This year, motoring enthusiasts will have the opportunity to ride in the passenger seat of an F-Type Jaguar with a professional driver, who will be taking fans for a spin.

“We’re so excited to have the Jaguar Supersprint as a new feature of the event this year,” Mr Heath said. “It is anticipated to be a very popular attraction, so make sure you jump in the line early to avoid disappointment.”

A fleet of V6 and V8 powered F-Types will be showcased at the Jaguar Supersprint across the weekend.
