Meredith swells as fans flock

- TAMARA MCDONALD

THOUSANDS will descend on the Meredith Supernatural Ampitheatre, near the regional town of Meredith, this weekend for a weekend of music and art.

Meredith Music Festival co-founder Greg Peele said about 12,500 people were expected to attend the soldout event, running from tonight until Sunday.

This year’s line-up features an eclectic array of artists including alt-rock act The Breeders and dance duo The Presets.

Mr Peele, who started the festival almost three decades ago, said “the site ... is looking a million bucks and it sounds like the weather will be incredible”.

The festival also brings a boost in trading for businesses in the small town of Meredith, Mr Peele said, and local community groups are involved in the event.

“There’s the now-world famous Meredith tucker tent — which is now in a shed — where local groups get together (and) put out reasonably priced, delicious food which is very popular during the festival,” Mr Peele said.
