Anti-grog program gets gong

-

A PROGRAM using Geelong Cats players to discourage underage drinking has picked up a VicHealth award for preventing booze-fuelled social damage.

Just Think is a collaboration between the club and Barwon Child Youth Family.

It has Cats players Zac Smith, Cam Guthrie, Mitch Duncan and Renee Garing as ambassadors and was founded 12 years ago by Tom Harley, James Kelly and Dave Wojcinski.

Geelong Football Club’s Sarah Albon said the program had already reached 1.3 million people this year, resulting in a 7.5 per cent increase in students intending to abstain.

“Our club is proud of the 10 community programs that we run, and we are particularly pleased that VicHealth has recognised Just Think for its role in preventing harm from alcohol,” Ms Albon said.
