As he travels all over the UK to visit the sheds entered in the competition, it becomes clear that the designs are a mix of ingenious and eccentric, with a mindboggling range of elective uses. The Summerhouse and Cabin group throws up a replica 18th-century US frontier cabin containing a mummified yeti, a Gothic grotto decorated with 50,000 seashells, and a scaleddown Elizabethan lodge.
