Sweet treats hard to beat

-

THE region’s dessert scene is about to get sweeter.

Melbourne doughnut chain Daniel’s Donuts this week announced it would be opening a new store on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The brand, boasting 82,000 Facebook likes and a further 26,500 followers on Instagram, received a very warm reception when it announced the Portarlington store on social media this week.

Owners were tight lipped on the venue — and there’s no word whether it’s a permanent or pop-up site — but it is set to open this month in time for the summer trade.

Daniel’s Donuts flagship store, located in Springvale, is open 24 hours and offers a range of doughnuts, pies, milkshakes, coffee and cakes.

Meanwhile in Geelong, there’s another new innercity venue, Twisted Dessert Bar, that we can’t wait to see open its doors.

It is pitched as “a fusion of coffee, dessert and cocktails” and will be based on the corner of Moorabool St and the Little Malop St hospitality precinct — where a travel agent formerly operated.
