DELISTED Geelong utility Timm House says he will have a point to prove when he lines up for Werribee in the VFL next season.

The 23-year-old was let go by the Cats without an AFL game to his name, despite proving one of the most consistent key position players in the club’s VFL side over the past two seasons.

While there was interest from AFL clubs before the draft, House said he leant on advice from former coach Shane O’Bree before deciding the Tigers would be the best fit for his football and lifestyle.

“They were quite keen and I was quite keen to go up the highway to them,” he said.

“They’re a good distance GEELONG Cup winner Runaway will run for the first time since his Melbourne Cup fail in today’s $300,000 Pakenham Cup.

The four-year-old Rosemont Stud horse ran 19th in the Melbourne Cup after winning his way into the race with victory in the Geelong Cup in October.

Rosemont’s bloodstock and business development manager from Geelong, which is where I’ll be based next year. I think it will be a good opportunity to play at a stand-alone club and a good opportunity to play under Mark Williams and a few other good players to continue my development.”

The former West Australian considered playing WAFL, but an opportunity at Werribee means he can continue his studies at Deakin.

While backline looks the more natural, the former Newtown & Chilwell utility said he would be open to more game time up forward.

“I’m certainly most confident to play consistent footy in the backline; I know what I can do back there,” House said.

“I wouldn’t mind having another crack in the forward line just to see what happens, but I’m happy to have a go at either end and see what the team needs.”

And he said he would pencil in the fixtures against Geelong, keen to prove he had what it takes.

“There’s a bit of that in the back of the mind,” he said.

“I’m definitely looking forward to playing Geelong.”

House, who will link himself with the Eagles in the GFL, returns from WA next month.
