Panthers stun Pies with brilliant fightback

-

LUKE Zanchetta was the hero at Myers Reserve as the Panthers fought hard to claim a 68-run win — their third of the season — against the Magpies in a stunning fightback.

Rhys Burke framed the backbone of the home side’s innings with 41, as the Hill cobbled together a seemingly under-par 132. Seamers Jack Hall (423) and Tom Mathieson (4-15) impressed with the ball for the visitors. However, the Magpies struggled at the crease in reply, losing wickets early — and at regular intervals — as Zanchetta (5-20, pictured) cut a swath through their line-up on the way to season-best figures. Mitchell Sleeman chimed in with 2-9 in an innings that saw three run-outs, with North rolled for 64 in 22 overs.
