Vandalism won’t mar Nightjar

-

YOUTHS have vandalised signs at Torquay’s popular Nightjar Festival.

In a Facebook Post on Saturday, the Nightjar Festival said: “you can smash our signs, graffiti our tables, smash fences and steal things from the site … but you know what won’t happen … we won’t let the 0.01 per cent stop making thousands of people smile, laugh, relax and enjoy themselves!”

“We are passionate locals providing other locals and holiday-makers with an opportunity to come together and enjoy music, food and a drink in a safe relaxed environment,” the post said. “We’ve had lots of messages of support and love over the last few weeks, messages about loving the new layout and feeling safe.

“We’re going to take those messages and forget the negative crap that we see.”

It is understood local residents found letters from the festival sign dumped around the town.

A Torquay Police spokesman said the vandalism had not been reported to police.

Nightjar Festival organiser Lyndelle Flintoff said a record 30,000 people had visited the festival in its first two weeks.
