New clinic planned for Pako

- OLIVIA REED

PAKINGTON St would become home to a new medical centre with at least three medical professionals under a planning application up for City of Greater Geelong approval.

The centre at 307 Pakington St, Newtown, would neighbour the existing Newtown Allied Health Centre.

A planning report for the centre says a maximum of three health service providers and a receptionist would be on site at any given time.

Medical appointments would be given by appointment only.

The proposed clinic would operate from 9am-5.30pm from Monday to Friday and 9am-4pm on Saturday.

The planning report states the majority of the existing residential dwelling would be retained and renovated, with three carparking spots to be included.

It states local residents would provide convenient access to medical services.

“The limit to a maximum of three health professionals on site at any one time and

the limited hours of operation will minimise any impacts on residents and parking demands,” the report said. “A condition would be accepted to require any security alarm to be of a silent type.”

The council will decide on the application after February 7.
