Ice dealer is off to prison
“You were given the benefit at that time (of the first offence) and placed on a corrections order. You convinced the court through your lawyer that you were ready to change.”
A CORIO woman given a second chance after she was found with 12 grams of ice last year has been jailed after police again found the drug in her possession and evidence of drug trafficking at her home.
Sarah Adamson, 32, faced the Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to trafficking ice.
A police search of her Glenelg Ave house on April 19 last year found digital scales and messages on her phone indicating drug dealing.
The search also uncovered a small amount of ice in a bedroom cabinet.
Police prosecutor David Vanderpol told the court one message found on Adamson’s phone read: “Hey mate, just wondering if you have the cash for the present I gave you last week?” While others referenced offering credit for drugs.
Magistrate Peter Mellas said community expectations demanded Adamson should be jailed due to prior drug offences, including being caught with four times the trafficable quantity of ice.
Mr Mellas said court documents showed Adamson was trafficking ice at the same time she faced court for previous drug offences.
“You were given the benefit at that time (of the first offence) and placed on a corrections order. You convinced the court through your lawyer that you were ready to change,” he said. She will be eligible for parole in May.
