Trump goes for doctor

-

US President Donald Trump was in for some poking and prodding yesterday as doctors assess whether his “incredibly good genes” continue to serve him well.

Mr Trump travelled to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Wash- ington for his first annual medical check-up.

His personal physician, navy Rear Admiral Dr Ronny Jackson, declared him in “excellent health” after a fourhour examination in January 2018, including a cognitive test.

“He has incredibly good genes, and it’s just the way God made him,” Dr Jackson said.

This year’s exam will be overseen by Sean Conley, a Navy veteran and doctor of osteopathic medicine, who is now the physician to the President.

It will be Mr Trump’s call as to whether there will be another cognitive test this year.

Dr Jackson said Mr Trump requested the test last year and achieved a perfect score.

He also said the President, who tipped the scales at 108kg, should drop 4-6kg, shift to a low-fat, low-carb diet and try a more defined exercise routine. Mr Trump’s primary form of exercise is golf.

He has also said he gets lots of exercise walking around the White House complex.

But Mr Trump’s love of fast food remains.

Last month, he invited the college football champs Clemson Tigers to the White House during the partial government shutdown.

With the White House kitchen too understaffed to cater for the strapping athletes, Mr Trump ordered in burgers, french fries and pizza.
