A SHOT is believed to have been fired at police in an incident in Whittington, Armed Crime Squad detectives have confirmed.
The revelation comes a week after police — including the riot squad — swarmed the area and arrested a 43-year-old man, a 42-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man. They were all interviewed and released.
A 45-year-old Whittington man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant before being bailed. He was charged with possessing a drug of dependence, handling stolen goods and possessing ammunition.
Specialist police allegedly seized ammunition, drugs and stolen goods during three subsequent raids, which saw another two men arrested on Sunday.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are still probing the shooting.

He was charged with pos- sessing a drug of dependence, handle stolen goods and possessing ammunition, and has been bailed to appear at court on May 30.

Detectives say police were investigating an allegedly stolen Hyundai i30 hatchback in Surveyor Court on February 11 when they heard what they believed to be a gunshot.
Armed Crime Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Hayward said the report of a firearm being discharged near police and residents was very concerning.
“Investigators still have a number of inquiries to make with regard to this concerning incident and we’re appealing for anyone with any information to come forward,” SenSgt Hayward said.
Following extensive investigations, police then raided homes in Whittington, Thompson and Newcomb on Sunday, with a 26-year-old and 37-year-old arrested during the raids and later charged.
Investigators seized allegedly stolen goods, drugs and shotgun ammunition during the raids, and the two men were charged with a number of offences including handling stolen goods and possessing ammunition.
The 26-year-old man was remanded in custody to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on March 7, and the 37year-old man was bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on June 6.
Forensic tests are continuing in relation to the alleged gunshot. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who has information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
