Family’s stolen pup plea

- CHANEL ZAGON

A YOUNG family is desperate to be reunited with their new puppy after thieves stole him from their Norlane property earlier this month.

The family of three were left devastated when thieves took Koby, their three-month-old bull mastiff cross bull arab puppy, from their front yard on February 9 about 4pm.

Mother Taleah Goudge obtained CCTV footage of the incident from her neighbour’s security system.

The footage revealed a group of men picked up Koby from the driveway and placed him in a black Mazda before driving away.

“We are beside ourselves — we have been crying and are sick to our stomachs,” Ms Goudge said.

“I actually thought maybe they had picked him up and taken him to the pound — but they hadn’t.

“It was obvious they wanted him and took him.”

Ms Goudge said Koby had escaped to the front yard after wind blew their gates open.

Fortunately, their other pooch did not get taken.

Ms Goudge said the incident had scared her daughter Lily.

“My four-year-old daughter keeps saying ‘ Mummy, is someone going to take me too?’” she said.

“Our other dog is also really upset, she’s not eating and has been whimpering.”

The dog had been with the family for just two weeks before the theft occurred.

The family has reported the incident to Corio Police.

Sergeant Andrew Harris said police were investigating the theft.

“The case has been reported to us and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Anyone who has information regarding the dog’s whereabouts is urged to contact Senior Constable Samuel Kelly at Corio Police Station on 5273 9555.
