TRAVOLTA IN GEELONG?

Tell me more, tell me more ... Did he stay on our shores?

“It’s my understanding that yes, he (Travolta) was coming. Apparently his plans changed last minute and he couldn’t make it. It was a bit of a shock to hear that he was possibly coming. I was reserved about whether he was going to show or not.” LITTLE CREATURES’ SCOTT CAMPBELL

A GEELONG brewery has confirmed it expected celebrity actor John Travolta to make an appearance for a private tour yesterday afternoon, but then cancelled at the last minute.

Little Creatures Brewery revealed to the Geelong Advertiser that secret plans had been made to give the actor and his family an exclusive beer and brewery tour around 1pm.

But hospitality operations manager Scott Campbell said the actor did not show up as planned.

“It’s my understanding that yes, he was coming,” he said.

“Apparently his plans changed last minute and he couldn’t make it.

“It was a bit of a shock to hear that he was possibly coming.

“I was reserved about whether he was going to show or not.”

It is rumoured Travolta had stayed on Victoria’s jewel Surf Coast with his wife Kelly Preston and two children Benjamin, 8 and Ella, 18.

Mr Campbell said customers might have heard whispers about Travolta being in town, but they were not aware of the brewery’s secret celebrity plans.

“We kept it quiet — but obviously not that quiet,” he said.

“If he did turn up, we would deliver the best service possible — like we would do for anybody.

“We would also do our best to not fan-girl or fan-boy over him.”

It is believed the star celebrated his 65th birthday with family and friends at the time of the tour, according to a video he posted on Instagram.

Past rumours alleged Travolta visited the Geelong and Surf Coast Shire regions in previous years around February, for the Avalon Airshow.

But the rumours have never been confirmed.

Travolta, who is a licensed pilot and a Qantas ambassador, posted a video on Instagram last Wednesday showing him flying in an aircraft. The post was captioned “Today I am a passenger,” but the location was unknown.

Avalon Airshow head of marketing Laura Lane said she did not believe Travolta would attend this year. “We have not heard of anything and we aren’t aware of anything,” she said.

The star owns five aircraft that are based in his airport estate home in Florida. Travolta and Preston were one of the first couples to buy land in the residential airpark, the Jumbolair Aviation Estates.
