BPCA A2 TOP 10

-

1. Mitch Troy (Winchelsea) 399 runs @ 39.90; 25 wickets @ 10.24 A lock for top spot and clearly the best allrounder in the competition. The captain-coach has had a major influence since joining and will be hoping a hamstring injury doesn’t keep him out of finals. 2. Marc Carson (Winchelsea) 490 runs @ 49.00 The former Geelong Premier fast bowler is the league’s leading runscorer. Has not had two down games in a row and the effect with him out of the side was shown last weekend. 3. Toby Smith (Queenscliff) 404 runs @ 44.46; 8 wickets @ 16.38 The run-scoring machine has had a superb year since relinquishing the coaching reins and moving to the top of the order. His highlight came in the one-dayer in Round 10 against Newcomb with 101. 4. Shane Healey (Queenscliff) 345 runs @ 38.33; 12 wickets @ 15.50 A rock in the middle order. Can win matches himself with both bat and ball, and his experience, combined with Smith’s, will be a serious force come finals. 5. David Peel (Inverleigh) 360 runs @ 30; 18 wickets @ 13 Could have been higher. Another of the key allrounders in the competition. Always leads from the front and will be factor come finals if Inverleigh can keep its spot. 6. Matthew Jeffreys (Wallington) 25 wickets @ 12.32; 209 runs @ 26.13 The reinvented swing bowler is fresh off a string of brilliant postChristmas performances. Always reliable with ball in hand and his efforts with the bat have been a particular highlight in recent weeks. 7. Billy Foorde-Engelsman (Ocean Grove) 27 wickets @ 10.74 One of the best new-ball bowlers in the competition. Not express but his expert line — and ability to swing it away — is why he has taken so many wickets. 8. Tim Frankenburg (Queenscliff) 328 runs @ 46.86 Another Queenscliff middle-order bat who has made runs for fun this season. A super average. Would still be ruing being stranded for 99 in Round 7. 9. Lachlan Platt (Inverleigh) 332 runs @ 30.18 A crucial member for Inverleigh who possesses a safe set of hands behind the stumps. Has also had a decent year opening the batting, getting plenty of starts for his side. 10. Damien Biemans (Wallington) 27 wickets @ 12.48 The Wallington quick sneaks into a top 10 that was really tough to pick. Two five-wicket hauls to his name, ties up one end and takes wickets in the process.
