Maher sacks Weir staff
THE fallout from Darren Weir’s disqualification continues after 12 staff members at the disgraced trainer’s former Forest Lodge stables lost their jobs.
Ciaron Maher Racing, which has taken over Weir’s Ballarat yard, said 61 former Weir staff had kept their jobs but 12 positions had been made redundant.
Weir is serving a four-year disqualification after three jiggers were found in the master bedroom of his house at the Kennedy’s Road complex at Dowling Forest.
“After a thorough internal assessment of our ongoing horse numbers and structure, we have today made 12 redundancies to the workforce at our new Miners Rest location, with 61 staff members retaining their jobs,” the Ciaron Maher Racing statement said.
Victoria Police investigations are ongoing along several lines of inquiry.
