Alizee ‘flying’: Cummings

- GLENN McFARLANE

JAMES Cummings is confident his star mare Alizee can make it four wins in succession — including three this campaign — in Saturday’s Group 1 Futurity Stakes before tackling her ultimate autumn aim, the $5 million All-Star Mile at Flemington.

And with Alizee likely to get into the All-Star Mile on the popular vote, the Godolphin trainer is hopeful his old warrior Hartnell can secure one of four wildcards into the inaugural race on March 16.

Cummings said the stable would have a strong hand in the group races at Caulfield — including leading hope Athiri in the Blue Diamond — but knows much of the attention will be on Alizee, who has been favourite for the AllStar Mile since her strong win in the Group 2 Expressway earlier this month.

“She is flying,” Cummings said of the four-year-old Sepoy mare. “She is on the way up; she is an exciting mare.”
