WARRIORS READY TO BOUNCE BACK

- TAS MAVRIDIS

NORTH Geelong will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it takes on last-placed Whittlesea Ranges at Epping Stadium this afternoon.

Coach James Coutts said the response of the North Geelong Warriors in training pointed towards an emphatic response today.

“The boys have been excellent in training, obviously it was not nice to lose last weekend,” Coutts said.

“There was a slightly different feeling post-game, but you would not have known that throughout the week.

“We analysed the game and went through all of it and the chances we created and where we need to improve.

“The boys have been excellent on the training pitch so hopefully we can take that into this weekend.

“On the weekend it was not that the performance was bad, we just failed to convert our chances.

Coutts hinted there could be several changes to the starting 11 with ever present striker Darius Madison a doubt for the game through injury.

“The changes are more to freshen up a couple of areas where we feel we might need to, there are a couple of little knocks. Darius hasn’t trained the last couple of nights, so he is a doubt for the game,” Coutts said.

“We have got different options, I feel that Lochie McGrath can play that role, albeit slightly differently.

“The likes of Jesse (Krasic) and Thomas (Hidic) have also done very well in the 20s and are improving on a regular basis.

“Whichever way we decide to go I feel like we have got options to come and that is the benefit of having a deep squad.”
