Local’s pitch to China

-

TRUSTED Food Group founder Wes Ward is set to meet potential industry partners and investors in China after being judged one of the winners of a pitch contest in Melbourne.

Mr Ward, of Ocean Grove, won a trip to the Nexus Summit in Nanjing after his winning pitch at an event hosted by RMIT and the City of Melbourne on Wednesday.

Trusted Food Group becomes the third Geelong region start-up to be part of a Victorian delegation heading to Nanjing next month, joining Aglive and Breezy Dine, which won the Geelong round of the competition.

In addition to return flights and accommodation, the trip opens the door to Chinese investors and industry leads.

Mr Ward said he hoped to be able to meet hardware designers with expertise in circuit boards, food and wine industry leaders who can advise on consumer trends and potential investors.

Trusted Food Group has built a hi-tech solution to protect premium Australian wine from fraud by tracking data from the grower, the wineries and logistics all the way through to the overseas market.

“We have successfully developed prototypes of our hardware and software,” Mr Ward said.

“We have tracked data in and out of China as well and put it into the blockchain.”
