35,883 at Marvel Stadium STAR St Kilda recruit Dan Hannebery has confirmed he hopes to return in the back half of the 2019 AFL season.

The former Sydney onballer spoke of his frustrations yesterday, with persistent leg injuries stopping him from playing any football so far at his new club.

St Kilda recruited Hannebery on a bumper five-year deal and his ongoing leg problems have garnered plenty of unwanted focus.

The Saints also added Hannebery to their leadership group, before quickly reversing their decision so he could concentrate on returning to AFL fitness. Last month, Saints coach Alan Richardson said Hannebery’s body needed rebuilding to an extent.

“It’s been a bloody frustrating time post-Christmas, but in saying that, I’m doing a mountain of work on-field and offfield trying to get the body right for the long-term,” Hannebery told Channel Seven.
