Graffiti damage causing headaches

INCIDENTS were spread throughout the day and night, mainly from residentia­l streets. Corio had vehicles stolen and one was taken from a beach car park in Torquay. Three stolen vehicles have been recovered in Norlane (stolen from Corio), in Corio (stolen from East Geelong) and in St Leonards (stolen from Marshall). A HIGH number of incidents occurred in Belmont, Grovedale, Marshall and Geelong. The majority of incidents occurred during the night. Items stolen from all vehicles included cash, computer items, handbag/ purse, clothing and vehicle keys. No visible force was observed in half the incidents. Most occurred in residentia­l areas with others happening at the South Geelong Railway Station carpark, the Barwon Tyre Centre carpark in Belmont, Corio Central Shopping Centre carpark and Bell Park Croatian Club. MULTIPLE offences occurred in Bell Park, Geelong West and Colac. At least half of the offences occurred during the day. Building materials, cash and household electrical items were stolen. A NUMBER of incidents occurred in Grovedale, Belmont and Highton. Offenders in a stolen vehicle committed offences at The Cheesecake Shop in Mt Pleasant Rd, Belmont, Gloria Jeans Coffee shop in the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, Bean Squeeze in Grovedale and Gaji Hair Design in Highton. Offenders were arrested. A ram-raid occurred at the Shell service station in Portarling­ton last Wednesday. A car reversed into the glass sliding doors with two males entering and stealing cigarettes. INCIDENTS spread throughout various suburbs with multiples occurring in Geelong, Corio/Norlane, Grovedale/Belmont and Newcomb/Thomson. Nearly a third of the incidents involved graffiti damage and occurred at locations including a motel, office and sports facility.
