DANGER’S RESOLVE INSPIRES US ALL

-

LAST night’s win was extremely important for our team.

Another loss probably would have put us back to the pack in terms of how we are going numbers-wise, so it was really good to put in a strong performance.

It was clear to me that we had a lot more contributors than last week and while we didn’t have the game on our terms early, we were able to rectify that after quarter-time.

That was one of the big positives for us as we let ourselves down in that area against Port Adelaide, and we came into the match against the Crows with a different mindset, so it was an unbelievable effort from all of the boys.

For me, winning like that is a sign of a mature side, which we believe we are this year.

We have great trust and belief in the way we play and have a lot of experienced guys, but also a lot of younger guys who are hungry and eager to learn.

Good sides can bounce back after a bad quarter and come out on top, so that was really encouraging and even though we kept them in it with some inaccurate kicking at goal, it was a pleasing response.

During the week we spoke about trying to keep things as normal as possible, because while everyone is up and about after a win, we knew we had to generate some enthusiasm ourselves after the loss to Port.

We have done a lot right this year and have given ourselves a great chance to go deep in September.

There is a long way to go, but we had no need to hit the panic button, so last night was all about getting back to playing our way and being hard to score against.

I want to make special mention of my teammate Patrick Dangerfield as well.

He is someone who inspires our group with his courage and attack on the ball.

Every week he does something like he did last night and to come back and play how he did was uplifting for all of us.

Just like after a loss though, we now move on pretty quickly after a win and turn our attention to the Western Bulldogs.

They are a quality side and it is really important that we continue to do what we have been doing next Saturday to make sure we get another four points.
