Charges over double shooting

- RUSTY WOODGER

A GROVEDALE man has faced court after being charged over a double shooting in Geelong at the weekend.

Jordan Doodt appeared in custody at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday after being arrested by Armed Crime Squad detectives on Monday night.

The 25-year-old is facing seven charges including two counts of intentionally causing serious injury.

He has also been charged with discharging a firearm and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

The charges stem from early Sunday morning when two men, aged 22 and 24, presented themselves to Geelong hospital with gunshot wounds.

The incidents allegedly occurred in Grovedale and Marshall.

Charge sheets obtained by the Geelong Advertiser reveal an allegation that Mr Doodt shot one of the men through a garage door on Werner Ave in Marshall.

The two injured men remain in hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.

During a brief court appearance, Mr Doodt was in the dock wearing a grey Tommy Hilfiger jumper. He made no application for bail.

Several of his family members were present for the hearing, during which lawyer Stephanie Mawby told the court that her client required medical treatment in custody for oppositional defiant disorder, anxiety and depression.

She said Mr Doodt was also taking one dosage of valium each day.

The police will be required to serve a brief of evidence to Mr Doodt by the end of August.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on November 1.
