Heads oasis is back on market

- NICOLE MAYNE

BUYERS will be kicking goals with an exclusive riverside property in Barwon Heads that was once AFL great David Schwarz’s family home.

The sprawling five-bedroom house at 98 Carr St is a private oasis with a swimming pool, multiple living areas and panoramic Barwon River views.

There’s even an in-ground trampoline for the kids.

Former Melbourne player Schwarz and his family sold the 2056sq m property for $3 million in October 2016.

Bellarine Property, Barwon Heads agent Levi Turner has now listed it with price hopes of $3.5 million to $3.8 million.

Mr Turner said the property was located in one of Barwon Heads’ best streets, with nothing but marshland between it and the river.

“To get 2000sq m of land in Barwon Heads is pretty rare but to get 2000sq m of land with 180-degree views is amazing,” he said.

“You can see from the north, right across to Ocean Grove and around to the Barwon Heads bluff.”

Wall-to-wall windows in the main living area upstairs frame the vista, with the best outlook reserved for the neighbouring main bedroom suite.

Downstairs is a dedicated children’s zone with two further living rooms, two bedrooms and access to extensive decking and the resort-style swimming pool.

Luxury touches include marble benchtops, intercom, an automatic front gate and triple garage, one section of which has built-in storage and a wine fridge and doubles as a games room.

Mr Turner said it was currently used as a holiday home by two families and brought in more than $1000 a night as a holiday rental. “It is great for a big extended family but the floorplan is designed so it could also work for a couple who just wanted room for their family to come and stay,” he said.

Expressions of interest close on November 7 at 4pm.
