Tech start-up making waves
A GEELONG start-up with an automated solution for processing ATO documents has become the preferred supplier to a listed company that sells accountancy practice software worldwide.
Business Automation Works is increasing investment in development and staff on the back of its exclusive arrangement with Reckon APS, the accounting practice management division of ASX-listed Reckon which has annual revenue of more than $75 million.
The Newtown-based business released ATOmate, its automation platform for accountants, in February, starting talks with Reckon APS a month later.
Chief executive Stan Corner said there was a lot of potential for practices to take advantage of the technology and its innovative approach to document retrieval and distribution.
“By partnering with the global leader in practice management we’re excited to be able to help accountants across Australia and New Zealand create capacity that they can direct back into creating invaluable client relationships,” Mr Corner said.
He said the recognition the partnership provided had already led to a major spike in new inquiries into ATOmate.
“It’s also allowed us so ramp up our investment in development and staff, adding two new team members this month,” Mr Corner said.
Reckon APS aims to provide accounting firms with the tools and technology to run the business and take advantage of new and emerging technologies.
The strategic partnerships manager at Reckon, Tony Douglas, said the company was always looking for new ways to support clients to be as efficient as possible.
Business Automation Works was born out of Business Technology Specialists which has operated for more than 10 years.
