LARA SHOOTING VICTIM NAMED

MYSTERY continues to surround the shooting death of a Lara man.

Scott Muston, 34, died from gunshot wounds on Thursday.

It’s understood he was shot in the head at his Lara property around 6pm on Wednesday.

Police confirmed he was flown to Melbourne in a critical condition and later died from his injuries.

Mr Muston’s friends have remembered the former Alcoa worker as a “great mate” who had time for everyone.

Childhood friend Jimmy Primmer told the Geelong Advertiser he went to primary school with Mr Muston before working with him at Point

Henry Henry. “He was a great mate t of f mine who always had time for everyone and showed everyone a great time,” Mr Primmer said. “If someone needed a hand, he was there to help.

“We shared so many laughs and great memories in and out of work that I’ll always remember.

“Still can’t believe he has been taken away from us.”

Friend Jacqui McDonald described Mr Muston as a “kind person” with a “big heart” who would do anything for his family and friends.

“It’s so tragic for something like this to happen to someone you know,” Ms McDonald said. “He’ll be missed by many.” Mourners placed floral tributes at the man’s Bacchus Marsh Rd house yesterday. p y nue

On Thursday plaincloth­es detectives and uniform police spent several hours at the home. They could be seen seizing items including jetskis.

Police yesterday refused to reveal if a gun had been seized or if detectives believed offenders had fled the scene in a getaway car.

Earlier, police spokeswoma­n Leading Senior Constable Natalie Dean said two women, both aged 29 from Lara and Newtown, were assisting police.

A 35-year-old man from Bell Park was arrested at the scene for unrelated matters.

All three were released without charge.
