Stretching now streaming for flexibility
YOGA enthusiasts across the region will able to strike a pose in the comfort of their own home, as studios deliver video classes throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Teachers at Geelong’s Wonder Yoga spent last week recording classes so students could continue their practice at home.
Studio owner Sally Ferris said she hoped to be able to replicate all 67 classes on offer through video in coming weeks. A team of videographers were in the Ryrie St studio late last week capturing classes, the first of which is expected to be uploaded this week.
Wonder Yoga runs a wide array of classes, including barre, flow, meditation and sculpt.
Ms Ferris said while the studio had always hoped to provide classes by video, the coronavirus pandemic sped up the process.
“The idea of this type of innovation isn’t something new to us — but it (the pandemic) has sped up the delivery of it.”
Ms Ferris said it was essential to be able to provide people with a physical and mental outlet while they might selfisolating or working from home.
“We’ve become yoga teachers because we understand the difference that yoga and medihas tation can make to a person’s life and our own lives,” Ms Ferris said.
“From our perspective it’s really important that we deliver it.”
Other yoga studios are also using technology to teach, with Upstate Studio pursuing live streaming of classes and Pakington St’s Ebb and Flow also providing digital options.
