Palliative care podcast to air again

-

BARWON Health’s podcast Room 64 has returned for a second season, coinciding with National Palliative Care Week.

The week began on Sunday and this year’s theme is “More than you think”.

Room 64 – A Palliative Care creator Christine Brooks’ mum Evelyn spent the end of her life in Barwon Health’s palliative care unit. The Anglesea 100year-old died in 2018, and the podcast is named after the room in which she spent her final weeks.

The podcast launched last year, and Ms Brooks said the second season featured subjects including palliative care, medical staff and patients.

“The whole purpose of this is project was really to have conversations about palliative care because I don’t think the general public really know what it is,” Ms Brooks said.

“I had no idea about palliative care when it was suggested my mum go in.

“The aim of the Room 64 podcast is to get as many people’s views and experiences, get their stories through conversation and create some awareness.”

The first two new episodes are released this week. Listen at barwonhealth.org.au/podcasts
