PARADISE IN BELLBRAE SNAPPED UP FOR $2M

- NICOLE MAYNE

AN idyllic country escape in Bellbrae with a price tag close to $2 million has sold after a two-week campaign.

The 5.16ha property with a lap pool and private natural billabong at 290 Gundrys Rd was snapped up for an undisclosed figure within the $1.89 million to $1.99 million asking range.

The sprawling renovated three-bedroom homestead comes with a separate twobedroom cabin, perfect for guests or short-stay accommodation.

Hodges, Geelong West agent Jeff Begg said Bellbrae properties were coveted and not many hit the market in the tightly held hamlet.

He said buyers looking to escape the rat race were quick to act on the lifestyle location.

“We had strong interest from Melbourne buyers, the people that bought it are a family from Melbourne that are planning to it as a weekender,” Mr Begg said.

“There was also strong interest from local people from

Torquay. T “It shows the fact that regardless of COVID-19 people are still actively buying and selling.”

He said the pandemic had added to the appeal of lifestyle properties for some buyers.

“One of the groups from Melbourne had realised being in isolation that they did not have to go into the office and they were going to move down and work from home,” he said.

The vendors renovated the house in 2011, creating two living rooms with open fireplaces off a central kitchen/dining area that links to the outdoor entertainment area and pool.

The ground floor is home to two bedrooms, a large study and knockout bathroom overlooking a private garden with an outdoor shower.

Upstairs the main bedroom has a balcony offering rural views, an ensuite and loads of storage.

Horse enthusiasts are well catered for with stables, a tack room, hot wash area and horse pen.

“The previous owners had horses but it was not specifically a horse property,” Mr Begg said.
