second half of the year and they are two of our better players.

“I just think we’ve got the formula and we’ve got the players and we’ve got a good culture and I think we’ve got the ability to go around again and be successful.”

Jubber has no doubt Anglesea will be a force to be reckoned with after holding on to talented trio of Dale Kerr, Ned Cooper and Dylan Taylor, despite strong interest from GCA1 clubs.

The Roos also lured renowned development coach Bryan Thomas from St Joseph’s in a major coup.

“There’s no doubt they are the team to beat,” Jubber said.

“Last year they were clearly the best side, and when you look at the two games we played against them last year, we were in winning positions and just lacked a Matt Caulfield and Huon Bertino to get us out of the trouble we were in.

“Being in winning positions, it just goes to show that we weren’t that far away even with a depleted side.

“They are a menacing unit and they’ve got some outstanding players, but I like our chances against Anglesea and I like the way we match up.”

Jubber revealed the club was close to adding to its playing stocks, with an announcement imminent.

FORMER Test quick Peter Siddle, pictured, has signed a two-year contract with the Tasmanian Tigers.

The 35-year-old, who retired from international cricket in December after playing 67 Tests and taking 221 wickets, will make the late-career move from Victoria to the Apple Isle for the 2020/21 season.

Siddle won two Sheffield Shield titles with his home state and played 62 matches after debuting in 2005.

His experience will help the Tigers fill the void of George Bailey, who retired to join the national selection panel this year.

Injury-plagued all-rounder James Faulkner has been left off the Tigers’ contract list. Alex Bevilaqua, Gurinder Sandhu, Sean Willis and Simon Milenko have also been left without a state contract.
