NAME: Chloe Hay

Age: 15

Sport: Netball

School: Trinity College Colac Main coach: Jessie Lang and Annalie Lawrence How did you get into your sport?

My family — my aunty plays netball, Mum used to play, and my uncle played AFL and Dad played high level football (SANFL) and being around netball since I was little, I think got me into sport. What do you love about it?

Netball is really fun, competitive to play and you meet new people along the way and you get to play with a team which is the best part. What is a normal week of training/performing like for you normally and what is it during the COVID-19 period?

This season I would be training and playing with GFNL interleague, Colac Tigers, as well as strength and conditioning, Sunday netball sessions, theory sessions with Barwon Sports Academy.

But as the season has been postponed Barwon Sports Academy have given out programs to do at home to keep fit with hope that netball will come back. Barwon Sports Academy have been really good with helping us keep fit and sending out all this information that will help us keep fit and healthy. What goals do you have for the rest of 2020? Is it to compete later in the year or just to get yourself prepared for the 2021 season?

My goal is to improve my netball skills and my fitness. Luckily, I have Barwon Sports

Academy who are handing out programs to help our fitness and our netball skills which now I have heaps of time to work on at home. How has coronavirus impacted you? What are you most looking forward to doing once it is over?

I think that coronavirus has impacted me and a lot of others as we have to do school from home which can be hard at times and it finally came around to netball season and it was postponed. I’m most looking forward to playing netball again and seeing my friends! What has been a positive aspect of this unusual situation?

I think the positive aspect would be you can just relax for a bit. None of us have done anything for a while so it’s been good just being able to chill at home and catch up on some stuff.

But I am definitely looking forward to when all of this is over. Who is your sporting inspiration for the long term?

My aunty Tania DuPlessis and (star Colac netballer) Brooke Allan.
