Wedding venues welcome back love

COUPLES ARE ONCE MORE FLOCKING TO THE REGION’S EXQUISITE AND VARIED VENUES TO TIE THE KNOT

-

WITH the majority of weddings postponed in 2020 due to the global pandemic, this year is set to be a celebration of love.

Rescheduled weddings are taking centre stage with happy and patient couples finally being able to tie the knot, with only a few restrictions still in place.

Provenance Wines events and business developer Jo Wealands said the business had more than 25 weddings rescheduled last year due to COVID-19.

The Fyansford venue now has more than 40 weddings booked in this year, which Ms Wealands said will make for a very busy time.

“Last year was a difficult year. We tried to be really flexible with our weddings that had to be rescheduled,” she said.

“This year it is mainly just people who have rescheduled and there are inquiries later on in the year for newly-engaged couples.

“This year is jam-packed.”

She said weddings booked for this year were tending to have less guests than the original number planned.

“We normally do weddings with around 130-140 people, now a lot are less than 100,” she said.

Provenance Wines’ first wedding back after restrictions lifted was for 45 guests.

Ms Wealands said engaged couples were still being cautious and not booking too quickly due to the uncertainty of the global pandemic, and how quickly things can change,

especially if they want guests from interstate in attendance.

“Some couples are prepared to scale things down and have a beautiful intimate wedding, for them the whole point is just to get

married,” she said. “We are thrilled that we can host weddings again, it is a huge part of the business.

“We have really clear COVID-safe policies in place.”

There are still some restrictions

around weddings, including a maximum of 50 people on the dance floor at once.

Ms Wealands said the venue has hosted two weddings so far this year and are looking forward to many more with postponed weddings from 2020 seeming all the more sweet for the delay.

“The venue is looking amazing. It’s just gorgeous,” she said. “It’s wonderful to have weddings back.”
