CLEAR MY NAME
Ocean Grove father’s plea to police over wife’s 2018 death
EXPLOSIVE new allegations about the unsolved death of an Ocean Grove mum have been exposed by her husband as he pleads with police to “clear my name”.
Homicide squad detectives have paused their three-year investigation into the death of Samantha Kelly, 42, due to insufficient information.
Her husband Ryan Marriner has released a YouTube video in which he claims his wife (the pair are pictured left) died of cardiac arrest in “humiliating” circumstances for which she alone was responsible. Mr Marriner said living under suspicion had damaged his integrity, business and family.

Homicide squad detectives have paused their three-year investigation into the death of Samantha Kelly due to insufficient information.
The 42-year-old mother of two died in hospital after being found unconscious in her newly built Conran Drive home early on Australia Day in 2018.
Her husband Ryan Marriner has released a YouTube video in which he claims his wife died of cardiac arrest in “humiliating” circumstances for which she alone was responsible.
This is despite a recent coronial investigation ruling Ms Kelly died of “unascertained causes”.
“The circumstances surrounding the cardiac arrest are Sam’s responsibility and Sam’s responsibility alone,” Mr Marriner said.
“I am not going to go into them because it’s not in the interest of the kids … humiliating my wife after her passing is not something I would ever do.”
Mr Marriner, who is raising the couple’s two sons, said claims he gave homicide squad detectives a “no comment interview” after his wife’s death were false and he spent hours divulging embarrassing details about their relationship.
“I gave an interview that went over eight hours. I told them humiliating details about myself, Sam, our relationship,” he said. “I couldn’t have gone into more detail about what went on.
“The facts are the facts and they did not allow them to charge me with anything.”
Mr Marriner said living under suspicion for years had damaged his integrity, plumbing business and family and he wanted police to clear his name.
Police confirmed the homicide investigation into Ms Kelly’s death was paused this month as it “could not be taken further” based on information available to detectives.
But the case could be reinvigorated if new information surfaces.
“The coroner handed down their findings on September 30, 2020, which deemed the death occurred due to ‘unascertained causes’, a spokeswoman said.
Mr Marriner said the “tragic accident” had had a “horrific impact on our children, Sam's family, my family and myself”.
“I continue to guide and love our beautiful boys as best I can through the loss of their beautiful mum,” he said. “Anyone who knew us knows that I loved Sam and always will.
“I tried my best to help and save my wife.”
