HALL’S WELL FOR RETURN CONCERT

-

GEELONG concertgoers have two reasons to celebrate on Saturday.

Audiences will be able to enjoy the return of live music, with the Geelong Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Mozart, and have a first look at the newly renovated interior of Deakin University’s Costa Hall.

The $4.5m upgrade of the 1530seat auditorium at the waterfront campus has improved disability access and a hearing loop, as well as refurbished seating, stage floor and wall finishes, redecorated dressing rooms and green room, an upgrade to the box office and bar, and new carpets and paint.

GSO board president Wendy

Galloway said the orchestra was thrilled to return to Costa Hall.

Deakin University chief operating officer Kean Selway said the project was brought forward during last year’s COVID-19 shutdown.

Richard Davis will conduct the orchestra as it performs some of Mozart’s finest music, including the magnificent Jupiter symphony. The program will also feature the Flute Concerto K. 314 and overture from The Marriage of Figaro.

Tickets to the event, which starts at 5pm, can be bought at the Costa Hall box office on Saturday night.
