TREE HONOURS MEMORIES AND LIVES

-

THE Lamour family has joined other locals in giving back to the health service that supported their family during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Local mum Jacqui DyerLamour officially opened the Barwon Health Foundation’s Lasting Legacy Tree, which recognises donors, patients and families who have contributed to the Lasting Legacy Fund.

The fund, which provides an opportunity for families to invest in and grow Barwon Health’s services, has so far raised almost $120,000.

The tree, at Geelong Hospital, bears leaves offering words of wisdom, messages of thanks and special memories of loved ones who have passed away.

Ms Dyer-Lamour and her children Tahra and Blake decided to support the fund after losing their husband and dad Jim in 2020, to honour his memory and thank staff who supported them.

“Jim was a very kind, generous and giving person by nature. After he passed, and as Father’s Day and my birthday were approaching, I thought it would be nice to give back to the hospital in memory of Jim being an amazing father and husband,” she said. “I chose to dedicate my donation to the Intensive Care Unit, as although we were going through the worst time of our lives and it was horrendous, I found the care, empathy and respect given to myself, the kids, my family and Jim to be exemplary. Staff were kind, caring and generous, exactly like Jim. The children and I feel very proud to have raised and donated what we did and the fact that Jim’s name will now be forever memorialised is very humbling,” she said.

Donate to the Barwon Health Foundation’s Lasting Legacy Fund and contribute to the tree, at www.barwonhealthfoundation.org.au or phone 4215 8900.
